Dear NRC,
I am once again writing to request a 90-day extension of the deadline to request a public hearing and to petition to intervene. I submitted this request as an individual part of a comment to you via the email posted on the Dec. 1, 2022, Federal Register, a comment that I sent in over two weeks ago.
I have reiterated this request in numerous ways to numerous people within the NRC agency. Last night I resubmitted the request on Regulations.gov plus by email. Some Over 2600 comments have been sent to you.
This website says that 2544 have been received. Many of them request this extension. At least one Texas Congressman has requested the timeline extension.
Today, there was a Judge's order release that named five individuals that would receive a 30-day extension for the deadline to intervene, until March 1, 2023.
I don't understand why the decision was not made to extend the deadline uniformly, for all members of the public. Why five individuals only? There was no mid-January deadline for requesting the extension, but it appears that anything after that is simply being ignored by the NRC.
AGAIN, PLEASE Extend the deadline for requesting a hearing and for a petition to intervene for 90 days, and do it uniformly, for all of the public.
Choosing five people out of thousands with a similar request makes no sense and if arbitrary and capricious.
I write this request tonight on behalf of myself and the organization I represent, the Sustainable Energy &
Economic Development (SEED) Coalition.
PS - while this is last minute, it is a repeated request that I began making at least two weeks ago. Furthermore, the NRC put out a press release at 4 PM the day before a 1 PM scheduled public meeting. If we can be expected to respond this quickly to inadequate public notice, I'm hoping a federal agency with many employees should be SUNSI Review Complete Template=ADM-013 E-RIDS=ADM-03 ADD: Tam Tran, Antoinette Walker-Smith, Ted Smith, Mary Neely Comment (2570)
