4. s notmDARIER OF RADWASTE MANAnRMENT SYSTEMS sJ - -

l This section provides the criteria for determining which components are within the boundaries of the Radwaste Management Systems. Due to Trojan's permanently defueled status numerous systems no longer required are being )

j deactivated.. When a system or portions thereof has completed Phase V of the deactivation process in accordance with Trojan Plant Procedure requirements or l has been physically isolated or deactivated by a design modification, the 4

deactivated system and components will no longer be classified as Quality Related..

This section identifies those portions of the Radwaste System that fall within the requirements of Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.143. This subset of the Radwaste System that must meet the requirements of RG'1.143 is considered augmented-l 4_ qua lity-related. Those portions of the Radwaste System that fall outside of the requirements'of RG 1.143 cannot be automatically assumed to be non-

quality-related; other considerations must be evaluated before that-I' determination may be made (i.e., seismic II/I, Technical Specification

. Monitoring, etc.). i In identifying the RG boundaries, the following general guidelines are used:

The radwaste. systems are considered to begin at the interface valve (s) in each line from other systems provided for collecting wastes that may

contain radioactive materials and to include related instrumentation and control systems.

The radioactive waste system terminates at the point of controlled discharge to the environment or at the point of storage of packaged solid wastes prior to shipment offsite to a licensed burial ground.

For, design purposes, portions of radwaste systems that interface with other systems are considered to be in the system with the more rigorous requirements.

The Guide does not apply to the reactor water cleanup system, the I condensate cleanup system, the reactor coolant and Auxiliary Building equipment drain tanks, the sumps and floor drains provided for
