PUSHING THE OVERSPEED TRIP BUTTON ALONE WILL NOT CAUSE A PUMP TRIP.

RATHER, THE OVERSPEED TRIP TEST BUTTON IN THE CONTROL ROOM IS USED TO TEST i

THE OVERSPEED DEVICE WITHOUT ACTUALLY CAUSING A HFP TRIP. FOR THAT BUTTON TO HAVE ANY EFFECT, THE "0VERSPEED BLOCK" PUSHBUTTON IMMEDIATELY TO THE LEFT OF THE "0VERSPEED TRIP" PUSHBUTTON MUST FIRST BE DEPRESSED. THEN THE (3)

OVERSPEED TRIP TEST CONTINUES BY DEPRESSING THE OVERSPEED TRIP PUSHBUTTON.

ACTUAL CONTROL VALVE CLOSURE IS PREVENTED. THEREFORE, INSTALLATION OF A RED COLLAR DEVICE IS NOT WARRANTED.

THE CONCERN OF THIS HED IS THAT WITHIN EACH TEMPERATURE RANGE INDIVIDUAL CHANNELS CANNOT BE DIFFERENTIATED DUE TO SEVERAL VALUES PRINTED OVER ONE ANOTHER. THIS IS TRUE BUT NOT RELEVANT.

THE CRITICAL INFORMATION IS THE TRENDING OF TEMPERATURE AND IDENTIFYING THE FAILUTE OF A FEEDWATER HEATER. THIS RECORDER PROVIDES THAT INFORMATION.

IF AN INDIVIDUAL HEATER FAILS, ITS TEMPERATURE WILL BE DISPLAYED CLEARLY, AWAY FROM THE NORMAL PLOTTING OF THE OTHER HEATERS IN ITS RANGE.

COMPLETE. THE DCRDR TEAM EVALUATED GLARE AS PART OF THE HETER SUITABILITY STUDY (SEE HEDS 032, 050, 059, 063, 283, 286, 287, 416, AND 417).

THE CONCLUSION OF THE STUDY WAS THAT GLARE IN NO CASE PREVENTED OPERATORS FROM READING THE INDICATION. DUE TO THE ANGLE OF SOME CONTROL PANELS, THE APPLICATION OF SHALL HOODS DID NOT AFFECT THE GLARE ON THE HETER FACE. USE CF LARGER HOODS THAT WOULD EFFECTIVELY SHIELD THE HETER HERE CONSIDERED TO BE MORE OF A HINDRANCE THAN HELP. USE OF NONREFLECTIVE C0! TINGS WERE CON-SIDERED, BUT REJECTED FOR TW0sREASONS: (1 INDUSTRY RESEARCH INDICATES THEY 00 A POOR JOB 0F' REDUCING GLARC' AND (2) NO READILY AVAILABLE SUPPLIER OF VX-252 (THE HAJORITY ARE THIS TYPE) HETER FACES WITH NONREFLECTIVE COATINGS COULD BE FOUND. THEREFORE, NO CORRECTIVE ACTION WILL BE TAKEN WITH RESPECT TO GLARE.

OTHER HETERS THAT HAVE SOME GLARE, AS IDENTIFIED DURING THE STUDY ARE:

RDC NO: 84-136 THE LINEUP OF THE AFHP CONTROLLERS HILL BE' CHANGED BY RDC 84-136 WITH THE STARTUP AFHP ON THE LEFT FOLLOWED BY THE HEST AND EAST AFHP TO THE RIGHT.

THE AFHP DISCHARGE PRESSURE HETERS ON THE VERTICAL PART OF THE PANEL HILL BE IN THE SAME ORDER. THESE CONTROLLERS AND HETERS HAVE BEEN COLOR PADDED LIGHT BLUE FOR ASSOCIATION WITH THE REST OF THE AFH CONTROLS ON OTHER PANELS.

THE MAIN TURB OIL TEMP CONTROLLER HILL BE HOVED TO THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE BANK OF CONTROLLERS. IT WILL BE OUTSIDE THE DEMARCATION AND COLOR PADDING OF THE AFH CONTROLS.

DEMARCATION, COLOR PADDING AND HIERARCHICAL LABELING HAS PERFORNED AS IF THE CONTROLLER HAD ALREADY BEEN RELOCATED. ALTHOUGH THIS RESULTS IN THE MAIN TURB OIL TEMP CONTROLLER INSIDE THE DEMARCATION AND THE STARTUP AFHP OUTSIDE, IT HAS FELT THIS HAS PREFERABLE TO REDOING THE COLOR PADDING AND DEMARCATION (g)

WATCH TURNOVER OF KEY ITEMS WAS IMPROVED BY PROVIDING A COLUMN CHECKLIST ON THE CO'S LOG SHEET THAT SERVES AS A TICKLER TO THE OFF GOING CPERATOR TO NOTE ALL EVOLUTIONS IN PROGRESS AND ABNORMAL CONDI-(3 TIONS. 4. IMPROVE FEEDWATER SYSTEM STARTUP PRACTICES BY HOLDING PANEL DISCUSSIONS WITH EXPERT REACTOR OPERATORS.
5. REDUCE S/G LEVEL SETPT MARGIN, ADD TIME DELAYS FOR LO-LO LVL TRIP AND ADD COINCIDENT LOGIC TO THE TRIP.
