Li SEISMIC CLASSIFICATION OF SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS 4'5.1 SEISMIC CATEGORY I This category applies to structures, systems, and components that are necessary to ensures (a) the integrity of the RCPB, (b) the capability to shut down the reactor and maintain it in a safe shutdown condition, or (c) the

{

ability to prevent or mitigate the consequences of accidents that could result in potential offsite exposures comparable to the guideline exposures in 10 CFR, 100. Seismic Category I components must remain operable and/or maintain structural integrity during and/or after an SSE in order to perform their safety functions.

l The only remaining Design Basis Accidents are a fuel handling accident and a  !

loss of forced cooling to the SFP. Note that Trojan's licensing and design l basic allows boiling of the water in the SFP. To ensure that water remains in the SFP the integrity of the SFP walls, floor and liner must be maintained,  ;

and the fuel racks must maintain their integrity to ensure fuel geometry. It l is also necessary to ensure the ability to replace the water lost by boiling l

\ or evaporation, if normal cooling of the SFP is lost.

The structures, systems, and components of the Trojan Nuclear Planb, including their foundations and supports, designated as Category I include i

l (1) Control, Auxiliary and Fuel Building Complex.

(2) SFP structure, including the fuel racks.

(3) The fuel transfer tube.

4.5.2 SEISMIC CATEGORY II/I The Containment Structure and the Fuel Building Steel Superstructure are classified as Seismic Category II/I.
