Dear Mr. Mixaglia:

Please reference your December 9, 1981, letter transmitting the biological assessment for the St. Lucie, Unit 2, Operating License Stage Review.

We have studied the biological assessment, but will need more information to complete our review. Specifically, we request the following additional information:

1. Any past, present or future efforts that have been ox will be taken to prevent turtle entrainment at the intake pipes;
2. Details on the refinements being considered for the current procedures used to capture turtles in the intake canal;
3. . The rational for the determination that a .03% loss of the Caribbean adult green turtle population and .1% loss of the adult loggerhead population will not adversely impact the species (page the biological assessment}. We would appreciate a copy of any data used iii of to substantiate this determination; and
4. Information, if available, on what percent of the Caxibbean populations of green and loggerhead sea turtles nest in the area of the power plant. Also, the expected sea turtle mortality should be related to the number of nesting turtles (both green and loggerhead) on Florida's east coast.

We appreciate youx consideration.
