OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE DOCKET NO. 50/395 UNIT V. C. SUMMER I DATE 9/ 8/98 COMPLETED BY W. H. BELL TELEPHONE (803) 345-4389 AUGUST 1998

/ AT.THE-BEGINNING OF THE MONTH OF AUGUST THE PLANT WAS OPERATING AT 80% POWER DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE "B" CIRCULATING WATER PUMP MOTOR.

FOR THE FIRST EIGHT DAYS OF.THE MONTH POWER WAS MAINTAINED AT BETWEEN. J 80% TO 85% IN ORDER TO REMAIN BELOW MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE CIRCULATING WATER DISCHARGE TEMPERATURE. AT 03:00 ON 8/9/98, THE "B" PUMP HAD BEEN REPAIRED AND OPERATIONS HAD COMMENCED RAISING REACTOR POWER.

POWER WAS RESTORED TO 100% AT 12:55 WHERE IT REMAINED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE MONTH.
