EARTHQUAKE FELT AT SITE: NO DAMAGE OBSERVED j l At approximately 11:20 a.m. on September 2.1999, employees at the i station reported feeling the ground motion associated with an earthquake. l Subsequent contact with the National Earthquake Information Center i determined that an earthquake of magnitude 3.5 on the Richter scale had l occurred at 11:17 a.m. (CDT) near Amboy Illinois, which is about 30 4 miles from the plant site.
The ground motion appears to be below the measurement threshold for the !
l seismic monitoring equipment at the site. The plant staff checked plant l t systems and equipment, and no evidence of damage was found. l l
There has been corisiderable local news media interest in the earthquake and its possible effect on the plant. Several television news crews have interviewed the site vice president.

Region III (Chicago) was notified of the earthquake by the NRC resident inspector at approximately 12:30 p m. on September 2, 1999. This information is current as of 3 p.m. on September 2. 1999.
