INITIAL CRITICALITY Unit 2 achieved initial criticality at 4:19 a.m. (CDT), June 21, 1985 within 2 steps of the Estimated Critical Position. The withdrawal of control rods to criticality took two hours and twenty minutes. All systems operated as designed. There were no unexpected occurrences.

The Deputy Regional Administrator and other members of his staff were in the control room at the time criticality was achieved.

The licensee intends to issue a press release.

The State of Michigan will be notified.
