Three Ohio utilities have applied to the Atomic Energy Commission for permits to construct a two-unit nuclear power station near Morcow, Ohio.
They are the Cincinnati Gas &
Electric Company Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company and The Dayton Power and Light Company, i
The companien propose to build a two-unit nuclear power l
station in Washington Township in Clermont County.
The station, to be known as the Wm.
H. 2igmerAcuslear Power Station, will be located on the east bank of the Ohio River near Moscow, 24 miles southeast of downtown Cincinnati.
As proposed, each I
unit of the facility will use a boiling water reactor and will have a net electrical capacity of about 807,000 kilowatts.
Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company will be responsible for I
design, construction and operation of the station.
Sargent I
and Lundy Engineers has been retained as design consultant.
Genera) Electric Company will provide the nuclear steam supply systems, and Westinghouse Electric Corporation, the turbine j
generators.
As stated in the application, the earliest date for com-pletion of Unit 1 is January 1, 1975; the latest, January 1, 1976.
Comparable dates for Unit 2 are January 1, 1976, and January 1, 1978.
The estimated cost of the two units, including the nuclear fuel and cooling towers, is $463.2

million.

Batavia, Ohio, the company's office nearest to the site of the proposed facility.

The application will be reviewed by the AEC Regulatory Staff and by the Commission's Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards.
Betore a determination is made on the applica-tion, a public hearing w.ill be held in the vicinity of the proposed station.
