Licensee IWX and latter to A. Gianbusso, dated May 7,1973 and WRS May 15, 1973, respectively report failure of eving diesel to Do start on routine surveillance testing due to depressurisation ACRS 6f starting-air secumulators caused by welding of relay tentacts which generated a falso signal to accumulator solenoid valve.
Licensee states that 1 and low-pressure core co.) all offsite power and containment cling systere were verified to be available during the period of this incident and relay (s) in the solenoid valvs circuits of all Quad Cities dieselsI.) the effen will be replaced with a type which will reduce arcing.
R0 (Esppler) will obtain a full report and advise whether there may be generic implications.
No ACRS action recommended, pending receipt of full report.

gWING DIESEL AUTO-SHUTDWN CAUgED BY ENERATOR Im FREQUENCY (8pCED) Z *PS Licensee garbled, partial TWX, J. F. Gudac to DL, dated May 20, WRS 1973 announces subject incident. R0 (Esppler) has furnished NRS the following additional info. The turbo charger shaft was apparently binding (sufficiently to canoe the attachment bolts to be sheared) and this additional load aseeeded the capacity of the diesel.
The problem is believed to be non-generic, but REG does not yet have a full report.
10 is pursuing the in-vestigation.
30 ACRS action recommended, pending receipt of full report.
