B,-r;f f EHH & ACRS Jet Pumo Obstruction By letter dated May 8,1972, Comanonwealth Edison reported an incident which occurred during the jet pump flow com-parison tests. Two of the pumps (19 and 20) were found to have about 507. of the flow of the other 18. On re-moving pump No. 20, an obstruction in the riser was found.

This consisted of a heliarc welding outfit including: Two hoses, twelve and twenty-four feet long, complete with fittings; a twenty-four foot long, two-conductor welding cable attached to a TIG welding gun. This was removed and pump No. 20 reinstalled in the vessel.

The QC records on installation and flushing of the ECCS and primary systems, and the flow test results, were re-l viewed and the system is now considered to be clear of foreign material.

No ACRS action is recocuended.

_HPCI Failure May 26, 1972 By IVX dated May 18, 1972, Commonwealth gdison reported the failure of the Unit 2 HPCIS turning gear motor during the startup test program. The HPCIS was dec1hred inoperable and the reactor was immediately shut down.
