ACKS Commonwealth Edison Company TWX dated December 8. 1972 reports %'
7 that the stack (chimney) gas monitoring system was inoperable due to apparent freezing of the sample line between the stack and the pump.
Commonwealth Edison Company letter dated December 8.1972 requests a temporary exemption from the requirement that the stack (chimney) monitor.be operable at all times. The licensee is making a maximum e' fort to unplug the sample line. Additional surveillance samples will be taken in the meantime.
Commonwealth Edison Company letter dated December 18. lo72 reports further on the incident. An ice plug formed in the 1" line where it left the chimney. The line was opened and the ice was chipped away then the line was blown clear with compressed air. A filter paper was lost in the line and is believed to have been blown through but this is being checked by comparing particulate activity levels before and after this incident.
Coaunonwealth Edison Company TWX dated December 22. 1972 reports that the chimney monitoring system was out of service for about an hour due to a valve operation error.

11, 1973 reports All personnel who operate the sample system are to notify the control room prior to interrupting any process sample line and again when the system is returned to normal.

I HMH Deletion of Certain Full Power Tests ACRS Conrnonwealth Edison Company letter dated December 11. 1972 requests permission to omit certain full power trips at Unit I while still performing the complete series at Unit 2.
The justification for the request is that tests have been made successfully on both units at partial power and these combined with successful testing of 3 Unit 2 will allow an adequate evaluation of Unit 1.
[3 AEC/L letter dated December 22. 1972 denies the above request and' requires that the planned full power testing be carried out.
