11 February 1975 D. Okrent M. Bender D. W. Moeller C. P. Siess MEETING OF RC STAFF WITH MISSISSIPPI POWER & LIGHT CCMPANY AM)
ITS CONTRACTORS HELD AT BETHESDA, MARY 1AND, 5 FEBRUARY 1975 Dr. Zudans and I were observers at the subject meeting and his Meeting Report;is~ attached.
Perhaps more emphasis should be given to the lack of communication among MP&L and its contractors, particularly in the path; GE to MP&L to Bechtel.
Specifically, Bechtel had relied on loads reported by GE in MDO 10859 for their design. Bechtel and MP&L were unaware of a Staff letter of August 1974 which was critical of the model used, bases and results of the GE analyses. The GE representative present promised both MP&L and Bechtel that copies of the Staff letter and GE response would be sent to them j
promptly.
It was not clear whether or not the GE response had been j
adequate in the view of Staff.
i GE had written a letter to the Staff on 27 January 1975 discussing the
" Mark III Wrification Program," but the Staff had yet to study that transmittal: A copy is attached to this letter.
By the conclusion of the meeting, the Staff appeared to be in agreement with Dr. Zudans that more attention to possible asynenetric loads was
(
required.
