SERVICE WATER MOTOR OPERATED VALVE
- URVEILLANCE PROCEDURE 6.3.18.2 OPERABILITY TEST I.
PURPOSE A.
To provide a detailed instruction for station personnel to test operability of motor operated valves in the service water system.

This procedure covers the actions necessary to assure proper operation of the motor operated valves in the service water system.

PREREQUISITES A.
Obtain permission and signature from the Shift Supervisor before starting the test.

Establish communications.

LIMITATIONS A.
Surveillance Requirements - Technical Specifications Section 4.12.C.1.b.
1.
Check motor operated valve operability monthly.
B.
Administrative Limits.
1.
All discrepancies shall be recorded in the Shif t Supervisor's Log.
2.
Attachment "A" shall be used to record the test and filed as part of the station records.
3.
All testing shall be coordinated with the Control Room Operator.

PRECAUTIONS A.
Ensure the service water systen is returned to normal. configuration at completion of the test as per System Operating Procedure 2.2.71.

I. PROCEDURE
Note: All steps must be completed for monthly test. Only
- steps need be completed to prove operability for a system component being inop.
A.
Service Water Motor Operated Valve Operability Test.
- 1.
Secure the screen wash and sparger pumps.
- 2.
Close SW-117MV (Turbine Building service water supply) and reopen immediately.

Caution: The Operator should stand by to open SW-117MV manually if it fails to open.
3.
Close SW-116MV (screen wash priming and emergency supply) and reopen.
4.
Check SW-36 (service water pump crosstie) open.

Close SW-37MV (service water pumps crosstie) and reopen.
- 6.
Restart the screen wash.and sparger pumps and check proper screen 4
operation.
7.
Close the valves to the operable gland seal water strainers.
a.
SW-544 (S-403) inlet valve.
b.
SW-556 (S-405) inlet valve.
8.
Check closed SW-551 (S-404) inlet valve.
t 9.
Open SW-2128MV (service water gland seal water backup from service water pumps A and C) and reclose (return the switch to the AUTO position af ter closing the valve).
- 10. Open' SW-2129MV (service water gland seal water backup from service water pumps B and D) and reclose (return the switch to the AUTO
-position after closing the valve).
11.
Open the valves to the operable gland seal water strainers.

Cycle SW-650MV (REC heat exchanger IB outlet) through a complete operating cycle.

Cycle SW-651MV (REC heat exchanger. lA outlet) through a complete operating cycle.
- 14.
Crack open the drain valves until a solid flow is observed and then close.
Note: This is to ensure the service water lines are not plugged.
