CHF.0; VALVES IN COOLING SYSTEM OF DIESEL SURVEILLANCE PROCEDURE 6.3.10.16 GENERATORS INTEGRITY VERIFICATION I.
PURPOSE A.
The purpose of this Surveillance Procedure is to provide a deta: led instruction for station personnel to verify the integrity of the check valves in the direct flow path of cooling water for the diesel gener-ators.
II.
DISCUSSION A.
Operating experience indicates that numerous check valve failures have occurred in systems important to safety in nuclear power plants. This procedure specifically addresses the inspection of check valves SW-CV-35CV, SW-CV-36CV, SW-CV-37CV and SW-CV-38CV, all of.which are in the direct flow path of cooling water for the diesel generators.
If possible, perform with Surveillance Procedure 6.3.12.6, Diesel Generator Annual Inspection.
B.
To visually inspect the internals of these check valves it will be necessary to isolate the applicable. service water (SW) flow to the residual heat removal (RHR) booster pumps and to the Reactor Building closed cooling water heat exchangers.

PREREQUISITES A.
SW-CV-35CV And SW-CV-37CV.
1.
Prior to isolating SW flow to these check valves, ensure that the plant parameters will allow the removal of RHR heat exchanger B and REC heat exchanger A from service.
