COOPER NUCLEAR STATION OPERATIONS MANUAL S VEILLANCE PROCEDURE 6.3.16.2 REC MOTOR OPERATED VALVE OPERABILITY TEST I.

PURPOSE A.

To provide a detailed instruction for station personnel to test oper-ability of motor operated valves of the reactor equipment coofing (REC) system.

II.

DISCUSSION A.

This procedure covers the operation necessary to assure proper operation of motor operated valves of the REC system.

It is written to operate all valves locally in order to bypass the interlocks between the valves.

Obtain permission and signature from the Shift Supervisor before starting the test.

Administrative Limits.

1.

All discrepancies shall be recorded in the Shift Supervisor's log.

2.

Attachment "A" shall be used to record the test and filed as part of the station records.

3.

All testing shall be coordinated with the Control Room Operator.

VI.

PRECAUTIONS A.

Ensure that no other testing is in progress prior to performing valve operability tests.

B.

Ensure that the REC system is returned to normal lineup per System Operating Procedure 2.2.65 at the completion of this test.

C.

Ensure that an Operator is present in Augmented Radwaste when closing REC-1329MV.

VII. TEST EQUIPMENT A.

None.

I. PROCEDURE

Note: All steps must be completed for monthly test. Only

  • steps need be completed to prove operability for a system component being inop.

A.

Operate REC Valve From The Control Room As Follows.

  • 1.

Open REC-711MV (south critical loop supply) and verify position.

  • 2.

Close REC-711MV (south critical loop supply) and verify position.

  • 3.

Open REC-714MV (north critical loop supply) and verify position.

  • 4.

Close REC-714MV (north critical loop supply) and verify position.

Caution: When performing the test with one REC pump inoperable, do not secure the third REC pump. Maintain three pumps in service while cycling REC-721MV or REC-722MV to avoid having only two pumps in service and momentarily only one pump in service while REC-721MV or REC-722MV is closed.

Make sure REC pumps C and D are running and only one pump on the A and B side is running, then close REC-721MV (non-critical return) and verify position.

  • 6.

Open REC-721MV (non-critical return) and verify position.

  • 7.

Make sure REC pumps A and B are running and only one pump on the C and D side is running, then close REC-722MV (non-critical return) and verify position.

  • 8.

Open REC-722MV (non-critical return) and verify position.

9.

Close REC-712MV (Hx 1B supply) and verify position.

10.

Open REC-712MV (Hx IB supply) and verify position.

11. Close REC-713MV (Hx 1A supply) and verify position.

12.

Open REC-713MV (Hx 1A supply) and verify position.

  • 13.

Open the breaker for REC-MO-694MV (MCC-R), REC-MO-721MV (MCC-Q),

and REC-MO-722MV (MCC-Y).

  • 14.

Close REC-695MV (critical loop supply crossover) and verify position.

  • 15.

Open REC-695MV (critical loop supply crossover) and verify position.

  • 16.

Close the breakers opened in Step 13.

  • 17.

Close REC-694MV (critical loop supply crossover) and verify position.

  • 18.

Open REC-694MV (critical loop supply crossover) and verify position.

  • 19.

Close REC-700MV (non-critical loop supply) and verify position.

  • 20.

Immediately reopen REC-700MV (non-critical loop supply) and verify position.

21.

Open the breaker for REC-MO-709MV (MCC-R).

22.

Close REC-702MV (drywell supply isolation) and verify position.

23.

Drywell fan coil units water outlet flow low annunciators 6-1, 6-2, 6-3, and 6-4 annunciate on Bd-M and recirculation pump seal cooling water flow low annunciators 3-1 and 1-4 annunciate on Bd 9-4-3.

24.

Immediately reopen REC-702MV and verify position.

25.

Drywell fan coil units water outlet flow low annunciators clear and

. recirculation pump seal cooling water flow low annunciators clear.

26.

Close the breaker for REC-M0-709MV (MCC-R) and open the breaker for.

REC-M0-702MV (MCC-R).

27.

Close REC-709MV (dryvell return isolation) and verify position.

28.

Immediately reopen REC-709MV (drywell return isolation) and verify position.

29.

Close the breaker for REC-MO-702MV (MCC-R).

  • 30.

Close REC-1329MV (supply to augmented radwaste) and verify position.

  • 31.

Immediately reopen REC-1329MV (supply to augmented radwaste) and verify position.

  • 32.

Insure that the REC system is returned to normal status or to the AS FOUND condition.
