RES 1986 FIRST QUARTER PROGRAM REVIEW The RES Program Review meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 7,1986 at 2:00 p.m. in room 6507 MNB.

In addition to any issues you identify for this review, please be prepared to discuss any issues, problems or potential problems associated with:

1. What provision has RES made for the peer review of technical information used as a basis for preparing NUREG-1150?

2. Will an assessment of risk of the LaSalle plant be included in draft NUREG-1150 scheduled to be published in September 19867

3. Summarize progress on source term issues related to questions about iodine chemistry.

4. What RES programs are providing input to the agency effort headed by IE to develop licensee performance indicators?

5. Discuss issues to insure timely closure of petitions for rulemaking.

6. How have the user offices been involved in developing criteria for prioritizing research projects?

7. Describe existing and planned uses of the Nuclear Plant Analyzer within the agency. Describe plans for further development of the NPA.

8. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of consolidating and placing at one DOE laboratory RES projects for applying risk-based methods to NRC decisions. Will any time be lost on the learning curve of further development and application of PRISIM to NRR and IE needs? How is the application of a PRISIM system for Peach Bottom being coordinated with Region I?

9. What projects have been cancelled or deferred in order to provide funding for RES efforts aimed at evaluating B&W plants?

10. Why did the EPA Interagency Working Group for Residual Radioactivity Criteria find it necessary to publish an advance notice to request information? What is the time schedule for developing criteria for releasing decontaminated lands and structures? How does this schedule mesh with the needs of our regulatory programs for these criteria?

11. Discuss the status of revisions to Appendix K.

12. Discuss RES efforts, issues and problems associated with: (a) procedures for evaluating technical specifications, and (b) system analysis of risk assessment (SARA).
