This is in reply to the Order to Show Cause dated September 27, 1985, regarding removal of spare HEU to a more secure storage environment.
The UCSB L-77 nuclear training reactor is scheduled to be deccmmissioned in the next few months. In any event, there is less than twenty (20) grams of spare fuel solution outside the reactor core. Therefore, we request that the spare fuel solution be kept within the locked storage cabinet in the facility until th~e entire HEU fuel inventory is returned to DOE as part of the decommissioning process.
