(- information on the UCSB L-77 Research Reac' tor p Decommissioning Plan. Most of these questions were already l answered in our reply dated November 15, 1985, based on an earlier-draft request. These additonal comments are offered

- to comply with the request to respond by December 9, 1985.

3. Radiation protection programs already answered.
4. Surface' contamination: already answered with regard to Regulatory Guide 1.86.. ~

6. Termination Radiation Survey sampling.of floor areas:

UCSB.will follow whatever sampling method is required by l L NRC, but the sampling by smearing 1 sq meter out of 10 sq l- meters is. believed to be adequate. Many areas have been-l-

smeared in the periodic radiation and contamination surveys required by the Technical" Specifications, and these have been at background except for-tritium contaminated areas near the accelerator. The accelerator is being removed and the area decontaminated. This work is-expected to be. completed before'the Termination Radiation Survey for the reactor facility.
