EBERLINE MIS-3 CONTIN 0US AIR MONITOR Attached you will find two letters from Dow Chemical dated March 24, 1981 and April 20, 1981, which describe an apparent problem with the o-ring seals of their MIS-3 continuous air monitor.
'lhis matter was discussed with Eberline's regional representative on May 12, 1981. 11e agreed that o-ring maintenance was not mentioned in the technical manual but felt that inspection and maintenance of the o-rings was a matter of common sense. lie also felt that the filter lock-in device (as Dow calls it) was probably not the cause of the problem since the filter holder will stay in place without it, if the o-rings are in good condition.
In our review of this matter, we have determined that o-ring inspection and maintenance may be a generic problem.
k'e request that you examine this in-f3rmation to determine if it should be passed on to other users of this eq uiprrent.
