SUBJECT:

SEISMIC DESIGN OF NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS I have attached for your review a letter from Prof. Paul Jennings of Cal Tech. Dr. Jennings is a seismic engineer who has bee'n involved in the seismic design of large non-nuclear structures in California. I asked him to jot down his thoughts on how NRC might better assure itself of the adequacy of seismic designs for nuclear power plants. I'm very much interested in the Committee's reaction.
