I have received the enclosed letter from Commissioner Gilinsky and the attached October 5,1981 letter from Dr. Jennings. I would suggest that we get reactions from so 'e of our consultants on Dr. Jennings remarks. Mike Trifunac, John Maxwell, Ben Pa e, and Zenons Zudans would be my suggestions. Some of the suggestions made Dr. Jennings are closely related to work Geosciences Branch (use of site specific spectra) andgoingthe SSMRP on inwork. BobThe Jackson's SSMRP has a methodology which is intended to be used for quantifying the relative risk which could be associated with departures from theSRP methods of seismic design and may be able to give us some assessment of the quantative changes which Dr. Jennings proposes. If Commissioner Gilinsky has not already done this, I would suggest that we take advantage of the experience in Bob Jackson's Branch and in the SSMRP project in our evaluation by asking them to comment as to what insight this work gives them on Dr. Jennings recommendations.
