BOTH RELAPS AND TRAC As you and your staff are aware, R5B has reviewed the Glnna steam generater tube ruptute event in considerable detail, it is our belief that the event posses significant challenges to any thernal-hydraulic computer progran. Therefore, we recorsnend that you consider both TRAC-PF1/M001 and RELAP5/M002 be benchmarked against the Ginna data.

(Note that the CSfil PWG-2 task group on code assesssnent also selected Ginna SGTR for the proposed international verification matrix),

We understand that funding has been allocated at '.ANL to benenmark TRAC with this event. Consistent with our June 13, 1984, code user need letter, we believe it is important and necessary that appropriate funding be allocated to provide for benchmarking RELAP5 against this event as wel'l.
