SUBJECT:
MIDLAND DIESEL GENERATOR FUEL OIL STORAGE TANKS i
A telephone call was made to Jim Zabritski (517-788-0928) of Consumers Power to inquire about the elevation of the Midland D/G fuel oil storage tanks.
Table 3.11-1 lists the elevation of the D/G fuel oil storage as 616 feet in revision 23. However, a new revision, revision 25, lists the elevation as 622 feet. The following questions were asked:
1.
What is the reason for the change in elevation?
)
2.
Whem is the referencef point on the storage tank for the elevation?
i 3.
How much settlement was observed as a result of filling the tank?
The answers given were:
1.
The reason for the change was to change the reference point.
?.
The reference point (see Figure 9.5-32) is now to the middle of the tank. The tank is 12 feet in diameter. The previous elevation (616 feet) was to the bottom of the tank.
By changing to the middle of the tank (6 feet) the new refemnced elevation-is 622 feet.
3.
The settlement that has been observed with the tank filled is 0.1 feet.
