COMMENTS ON 1991 DRAFT NATIONAL PROGRAM REVIEW REPORT FOR REGION V As requested by the memorandum from Richard Cunningham dated April 2,1991, we have reviewed the draft report and have included our comments as Enclosure 1.
We appreciate the opportunity to review the subject report.

ENCLOSURE 1 Comments on the Draft National Program Review Report for Region V.
Page 4 Item 2.b.
Safeguards Licensing Please revise the first paragraph, first sentence, as follows:
" Region V received and completed two 10 CFR 70.32 case reviews during FY 90 and had no inventory of cases at the end of the fiscal year."
Page 5 Item 3.a Please revise the first paragraph, fourth sentence, as follows:
"The annual goal is 133, so the Region is somewhat behind due to the additional effort required for the inspections / investigations and escalated enforcement for Tripler Army Medical Center and Fewell Geotechnical Engineering and the response to the contamination and inspection at San Diego VA Medical Center.
It was also noted, they had only one (a priorty V) inspection overdue."
Please revise the fourth paragraph, first sentence, as follows:
"The vacancy created by the retirement of one of the materials inspectors was filled by the reassignment of an inspector from the Emergency Preparedness Section. However, the inspection program is still understaffed by one.
