FEB 9 1977 Docket No. 50-561 MEMORANDUM FOR:
T. Cox, Project Manager, LWR-3, DPM Hv THRU:
T. M. Novak, Chief, Reactor Systems Branch, DSS FROM:
G. R. Mazetis, Section Leader, RSB, DSS
SUBJECT:
BSAR-205 SER DRAFT INPUT FROM REACTOR SYSTEMS BRANCH Your' memorandum dated February 2,1977 noted that SER input for BSAR-205 has not yet been received from RSB. As you know, heavy workload within the branch plus other Section Leader responsibilities have not allowed me sufficient time to maintain the original BSAR schedule. Consideration was previously given to re-assigning this project to someone else within the Section; however, this transfer was not deemed practical since no one was familiar enough with a B&W NSSS design to pick up the review at mid-stream. Only one other person in the branch had previously reviewed B&W

plants, but his schedule would not allow the added burden.
This matter was discussed with my Branch Chief and we both agreed that to meet our SER commitment to you of March 25, 1977, it is obvious that my responsibilities as a Section' Leader must ultimately suffer. We have recently assigned Scott Newberry of my section to assist in the review of BSAR Q2 responses and the SER.
It is anticipated'that we would desire to meet 'with B&W at least once just prior to writing our SER.
Although no relief in RSB workload is apparent in thb immediate future, we are continuing our efforts to assess and maintain our high priority assignments. You will be apprised if the 3/27/77 date for our SER cannot be met.
