mrk C 17x17 fuel assenblies, a supplemntal fuel surveillance pro tram will be conducted at Reactor A.

The program will consist of a visual inspection (e.g., by an urxlerwater television viewing system) of all of the peripncral rods in 100% of the initial core fuel asserrblics once they are moved into the spent fuel pool. The inspections will be conducted during normal refueling shutdowns and upon final removal of the initial core fuel asse:rblies. ' Any condition observed by this inspection that could lead to unacceptable fuel-performance shall be the subject of a follow-on effort. The Reactor Safety staff must be afforded i

a resonable option to obsmve the incpections. The folicw-on effort, t

I if required, will consist of a detailed exainination of a representative sample of individual fuel rods. The removed rods will be inspected visually, dinensionally, and for ganun activity (e.g., for fretting, cladding integrity, rod bowing, corrosion and crud deposition, and axial and radial dimensions). Subsequent destructive examination of these fuel rods nny be deened necessary by the Nuclear Regulatory Ccomission.

The conclusions of the inspection are to be provided to the staff prior to power ascendency.

The Supplemental Fuel Surveillance Program with its associated follow-on effort, if required, will be corriucted in addition to that which I

nuy be perfonted at other reactors.

If two other domestic plants l

diich contain a full core of 17x17 fuel assemblies of a similar design reach the second and third refueling stage prior to Reactor A, and if
