l The Babcock & Wilccx Company / Estabhshed 1867

Babcock & Wilcox m

Mr. Roger S. Boyd March 29, 1976 The following comments apply to Amendment 1:

(1) The amendment specifically includes material requested by the Staff in Enclosure 2 in the attachment to reference (1).

In addition, as committed in reference (3), this amendment also includes responses to Enclosure 1 questions 212.8, 331.6, 020.2, 212.9 (Part C), and 212.10 (Parts 2-7).

(2)

Responses to questions 212.10, 212.74, and 212.75 are being submitted as Attachment C to this letter. These responses should be inserted in numerical order in the B-SAR section titled "NRC Questions."

These responses will be integrated into the B-SAR as part of forth-coming Amendment 2.

(3)

Responses to questions 212.71, 212.73 and to Item 5 ef question 212.80 are not yet complete.

It is planned to submit responses to these items as part of Amendment 2.

(4)

Amendment 1 includes a text page relating to Industrial Security which contains the statement that the original material is being withheld from public disclosure and which identifies the letter transmitting the text pages to your office and to the I&E Regional Office.

In this regard, we have followed the general requirements of NRC PM operating procedure 207.

(5) This amendment also corrects a number of typographical errors in earlier submittals and includes a number of clarifying revisions informally suggested by the Staff during meetings and telephone conversations.

Of note here are (1) the relocation of physical interface tables to a more convenient position adjacent to the referenced process and instrumentation drawing (P&ID), and (2) modification to interface symbols on the P& ids to make them more obvious to the Staff.

(6) System operating sequence diagrams in Chapter 15 have been modified to be in accord with the agreements made in reference (2).

(7)

It was agreed at a meeting with the Staff on March 12, 1976, that only safety-related interfaces need to be identified on B-SAR P&ID figures and related physical interface tables.

It has not been

~s

Babcock & Wilcox m

Mr. Roger S. Boyd March 29, 1976 possible to delete non-safety-related interface symbols and related tabular identifications in this amendment.

Such items will be deleted in future amendments.
