B-SAR-205 Transmittal of Amendment 13

$s ggA D id U T

Dear Mr. Boyd:

The Babcock 6 Wilcox Company herewith submits sixty copies of B-SAR-205 Amendment 13 for review.

The amendment includes the folloving specific items:

(1)

The response to NRC request 221.54 has been revised in accordance with agreements reached with the Staff at a meeting held in Bethesda on March 25, 1977, concerning statistical treatment of VMFT test results.

A portion of this response, namely Table 221.54-6, is proprietary to the Babcock 6 Wilcox Company and is being forwarded under separate cover letter, J. H. Taylor to R. S. Boyd

" Submittal of Proprietary Portion of Amendment 13" dated April 15, 1977.

(2)

Section 7.1.2.2, the response to NRC request 033.51 and Section 9.5 have been revised in accordance with agreements reached with the Staff at a meeting held in Bethesda on March 10, 1977, concerning a B6W proposal to revise the B-SAR-205 to utilize fiber optics for electrical isolation.

B5W appreciates the cooperation of the Staff in this matter.

(3)

The response to NRC request 221.57 has been revised in accordance with an informal telephone request by the Staff.

(4 )

A review of Table 11.1-13 has indicated that a number of activity values listed in Column I of the table were in error.

These values have been corrected in this amendment.

The corrections should have ao significant af fect on any dose evaluations made to date by the Staff.

l (5)

Figure 4.3-27 has been updated to be consistent with the neutron flux values listed in Table 12.2-1 and revised in Amendment 6 to the B-SAR-205.

(6)

The number of fiber optic cables for the ESFAS listed in the table of materials presented in Section 9.5 has been revised from 32 to a more accurate figure of 44.

Please note that this listing of materials has also been revised to list the additional fiber optics cable resulting from the design change noted in item 2, above.

(7)

Tables 7.1-1b and 7.4-2 have been revised to change pressurizer heater bank identification numbers assigned to IE banks 5 and 6.

This change is only being made to make bank numbers consistent with other documentation and involves no equipment design changes.

(8)

Sections 3.2.2 and 3.2.2.1 have been revised for clarification.

These revisions satisfy a recent request by our QA Department.

(9)

Figure 9.3-5 has been corrected to include permissive valve position interlocks between recirculation valve controls DH-V9A, Dil-V9B, DH-V7A, and DH-V7B.

Permissive ESFAS inter-locks have also been added to recirculation valve controls DH-V9A and DH-V9B.

These interlocks provide protection against inadvertent or premature opening of these valves and were inadvertently omitted when this figure was revised to include automatic sump switchover.

It might be noted that the ESFAS interlocks being added here are those referenced by B6W in the response to request 212.23 and this change is necessary to provide consistency with this response.

Vcr truly yours
