Subject:

B-SAR-205 Transmittal of Amendment 20

Dear Mr. Boyd:

The Babcock 6 Wilcox Company herewith submits sixty copies of B-SAR-205 Amendment 20 for review.

This amendment contains the following specific items:

1)

As agreed to by the Staff, section 7.3 and figure 7.3-1 have been revised to reflect a change to the ESFAS.

Specifically, the portion of the B-SAR ESFAS design related to containment isolation has been made identical to the design for PASNY.

This change maintains the signal diversity required by the Staff for isolation purposes; i.e.,

containment isolation will occur as a result of either low reactor system pressure or high containment pressure.

To accomplish this change (see figure 7.3-1), an "0R" gate has been added in the con-tainment isolation circuit in each ESFAS channel.

This "0R" gate receives input signals from both the containment pressure and the RC pressure sensor sub-systems.

The response to NRC question 022.11 has also been modified to be consistent with the above change.

2)

As agreed to with the Staff, table 7.5-4 has been corrected by deletion of the HPI flow indication to agree with table 7.5-1.

The HPI indication is un-necessary for hot shutdown since pressurizer level and pressure indications are provided.

Figures 6.3-7a, 7b and 7c have been corrected to show proper numbering for piggy back crossover valves DH 17A 6 B and dump to sump valves DH 16A 6 B.

These figures have also been updated to include the bypass lines and check valves added in B-SAR Amendment 17 around valves DH 12A 6 B in the decay heat suction lines.

4)

Table 8.3-1 has been updated to include additional safety-related valves.

5)

A number of typographical errors have been corrected.
