HEMORANDUM FOR: Bernard Singer, Chief Material Certification and Procedures Branch a
h FROA:
Yandy L. Hiller, Chief Material Licensing Branch
)l
SUBJECT:
REQUEST FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: COLORADO IRRADIATOR 6,
1 Enclosed is the technical assistance request originally received by you from j
Den Nussbaumer on October 19,1.984. The request involves a licer.se application
?i from 107ECH for a large irradiator in Colorado,,
l 4
2 Colo7 ado's main concern is ch6 proposed use of cesium-137 WrSF capcules in the h
irraciator. Year btanch has lead responsibility for evalustir.g the tuttability
(
of these capsules for uin in irradiators. Also you are currently working on r
s4 an application from P.adiation Sterilizers requesting authorization to use the 4
capsules in their NRC licensed facilities. Radiatior Startlizers alsa plans s
to' use the capsules in their proposed Georgia facility, so we may be receiving 1
a technical assistanca request from Gecrgia.
y'}
In view of the fact that the WESF capsules are the main concern in the Colorado
%4 application, it seems appropriate that your branch should handle this request and any other technical assistance request involving these capsules.
