RSI, WESTERVILLE - CS-137 CAPSULE SHIPMENT ISSUE Fl On October 24, 1988, I was called by Joe Coleman, DOE, to inform me that DOE would like to meet with NRC to discuss the current issue related to shipment of the cesium sources at the RSI Westerville, Ohio irradiator facility. The i

issue concerns whether the sources meet the "special form" requirements that y.

are conditions for shipnient to the Hanford WESF facility in the RSI shipping containers. This issue is apparently holding up shipment of the nine

containers now in storage at Westerville.

We agreed that such a meeting was desirable and that November 3, 1988 at 1

Room 458, A Wing, at 10:00 a.m., in Germantown, was tentatively acceptable.

NRC would be represented by someone from IMNS, Bruce Hallett from Region III,

and Chuck MacDonald from SGTR..00E would have present staff from Nuclear i

Energy, Defense Programs, Richland Operations, Westinghouse, DOE Transportation 8,
