SUBJECT:

By copy of a October 7,1980 memo. (copy enclosed) from Leo Higginbotham to the Regions, Region I was asked to tare ~the lead in conducting a combined / coordinated investigation of problem (with the subject cask.

Thus far we have heard nothing on the status of progress in this investigation.

It continues to be included in the weekly listing of investigations provided with the Daily IE Report.

The generic safety questions which were suggested from the preliminary informa-tion prior to the request for investigation continue to be of high interest.

Please provide me with a report on the status of this investigation and an estimated completion date.

I suggest that questions arising froa these difficulties could fall into several areas, as follows:
