Docket No. 50-206 Spent Fuel Shipping Cask Handling San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 My letter to you dated March 21, 1975 indicated that nodificatiens to the sp nt fuel shipping cask handlirg system, described in the enclocw:e to that letter, were scheauled to be completed by July 1, 1975.

Interferences between construction activities required to complete the nodifications and use of the existing system to ship spent fuel before August 1. 1975, will delay completion of the modifications until mid-October.

However, we do not plan to ship spent fuel with the existing nysten beyond August 1, 1975 as discussed in my letter to you dated April 1, 1975.

Shipment of spent fuel prior to August 1 is necessary as discussed in my April 1 letter and is being con-ducted in accordance with the understandings set forth in your letter to us on this natter dated April 17, 1975.
