Mr. Steven A. Varga, Chief Operating Reactors Branch No. 1 Division of Licensing Washington, DC 20555

Reference:

Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 HELB and Consequential Failure of Electrical Equipment, Test Report For Environmental Qualification Test of Penn Union and Marathon Terminal Blocks Gentlemen:

Forwarded herewith are ten (10) copies of the above referenced environmental test report.

This report satisfies the commitment mad. ky Duquesne Light Company in August 1979 to test Penn Union Series 1000 and Marathon Series 1500 electrical terminal blocks.

The test consisted of evaluating the functional performance of the terminal blocks subjected to typical operating electrical loads while being subj ected to a LOCA environment.

The range of environmental parameters used was governed by applying IEEE-323-1971 and Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 FSAR guidelines.

During the test, all of the terminal blocks demonstrated the capability to function as raquired in accordance with the acceptance criteria given.

Although all of the terminal blocks met the acceptance criteria, the reliability of the Marathon Terminal Blocks was questioned due to certain anomalies noted during the tests.

Very truly yours, C. N. Dunn Vice President, Operations Attachment Mr. D. A. Beckman, Resident Inspector cc:
