Fire Suppression Water System No. 2 Pump -

Leak in Inlet cooling Water Line CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Rx Power 0% - Unit Load O MW DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

During normal operation on February 4, 1981, the No. 2 Fire Pump was declared inoperable in order to repair a leaking inlet cooling water line.

Action Statement 3.7.10.l(a) was entered at 1625 hours0.0188 days <br />0.451 hours <br />0.00269 weeks <br />6.183125e-4 months <br />.

This occurrence constituted operation in a degraded mode IAW Technical Specification 6.9.1.9.b.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

Equipment Failure The flexible corrugated stainless steel hose that supplies cooling water from the prime mover diesel to the pump was leaking.

ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

The inoperable pump must be declared operable within seven days or a special report to the NRC must be submitted within the next 30 days.

This report would have to outline the plans and procedures to be used to provide for the loss of redundancy in the Fire Suppression Water System.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

The leaking flexible corrugated stainless steel hose was replaced in kind.

The Action Statement was terminated at 2140 hours0.0248 days <br />0.594 hours <br />0.00354 weeks <br />8.1427e-4 months <br /> on February 4, 1981.
