March 19, 2018 Mr. William F. Maguire Site Vice President Entergy Operations, Inc.

River Bend Station, Unit 1 5485 U.S. Highway 61 N St. Francisville, LA 70775

SUBJECT:

RIVER BEND STATION, UNIT 1 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION REVIEW RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR DUE DATE EXTENSION FOR REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SET 10 (CAC NOS. MF9757)

Dear Mr. Maguire:

By letter dated May 25, 2017 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML17153A282), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) received the Entergy Operations, Inc. (Entergy) application for renewal of Operating License NPF-47 for River Bend Station, Unit 1 (RBS). The application was supplemented by letter dated August 1, 2017 (ADAMS Accession No. ML17213A064, non-public).

On August 7, 2017 (ADAMS Accession No. ML17177A058), the application was accepted for review. The purpose of this letter is to respond to requests from the applicant to extend the response due dates for requests for additional information (RAIs) resulting from the NRCs review of the RBS license renewal application.

By e-mail dated February 8, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18043A008), the NRC staff issued safety review RAI Set 10, with a response due date of 30 days. Entergy indicated that extensive research is necessary to complete RAI Set 10 responses, and therefore Entergy requests a revised due date of March 26, 2018. This request extends the response due date of RAI Set 10 from 30 to 45 days, from the original e-mail issuance date.

This request is hereby approved. The revised due date for RAI Set 10 is 45 days from the original e-mail issuance date. Unless otherwise approved in writing by the staff, all other issued RAI set due dates remain as originally specified. The NRC is assessing whether the extension of RAI response due dates has an impact on the overall license renewal application review schedule and will provide the results of its assessment in a separate communication.

W Maguire If you have any questions on this matter, please contact me by telephone at 301-415-4084 or via e-mail at Emmanuel.Sayoc@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA/
