Dear Alan:

Nineteen loggerhead turtles and one green turtle were removed from the St. Lucie Plant intake canal during the July-September quarter of 1988. One loggerhead was dead when removed. No turtles were reported from other power plants.

All but one of the live turtles were released into the ocean from Hutchinson Island. The one exception was a juvenile loggerhead turtle (PPW261/AAJ663) captured on 15 September. It was released into the ocean from North Hutchinson Island, 1.1 km north of the Ft. Pierce Inlet.
