UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA - REVIEW OF THE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN FOR LICENSE RENEWAL (TAC NO. ME1586)

Dear Dr. Baciak:

As part of your application for renewal of Facility Operating License No. R-56, dated July 18, 2002 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML022130145), as supplemented, for the University of Florida Training Reactor (UFTR)

Argonaut-type research reactor, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff reviewed the UFTR Emergency Preparedness Plan, (ADAMS Accession No. ML16200A378) dated August 2013. This version was extracted from a letter dated August 30, 2013.

We have completed our review of the UFTR Emergency Preparedness Plan, dated August 2013, and concluded that it remains compliant with the regulations and guidance below:

• Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 50, Section 50.34, Contents of applications; technical information, paragraph 50.34(b)(6)(v)

• Regulatory Guide 2.6, Revision 1, Emergency Planning for Research and Test Reactors, issued March 1983 (ADAMS Accession No. ML003740234)

• NRC Information Notice 97-34, Deficiencies in Licensee Submittals Regarding Terminology for Radiological Emergency Action Levels in Accordance with the New Part 20, dated June 12, 1997
