UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA - APPROVAL OF REQUEST FOR AN EXTENSION, RE: RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION DATED JANUARY 6, 2012 (TAC NO. ME1586)

Dear Dr. Jordan:

By letter dated February 2, 2012, you requested an extension to December 31, 2012 to complete responses to requests for additional information (RAI). We have reviewed and agreed with your extension request for the following reasons: 1) it is your first request; 2) there were a large number of complex RAIs; and, 3) more notably, the University of Florida has demonstrated progress in completing the RAI responses, and maintained good communication with the license renewal project manager regarding the status of your RAI response efforts.

The new date for the completion of the RAI is December 31, 2012.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Section 50.30(b), you must execute your response in a signed original document under oath or affirmation. Your response must be submitted in accordance with 10 CFR 50.4, Written Communications.

Information included in your response that is considered security, sensitive, or proprietary, that you seek to have withheld from the public, must be marked in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding. Following receipt of the additional information, we will continue our evaluation of your renewal request.

If you have any questions regarding this review, please contact me at (301) 415-3724 or by electronic mail at duane.hardesty@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA/
