Concerns in Regards to Hearing and Media Articles About San Onofre and High Burnup Nuclear Fuel Near Residence Date: Wednesday, April 09, 2014 3:46:00 PM Hello Mr. McPherson, The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission appreciates your concern about High Burnup Nuclear Fuel near your home as expressed in your e-mail from March 7, 2014. In your e-mail, you requested information to share with your neighbors who have become concerned by the various hearings and media articles about San Onofre. You also forwarded a document from the residents organized for a safe environment (ROSE) regarding High Burnup Fuel.

I am the Senior Project Manager at U.S. NRC Headquarters, coordinating the U.S. NRCs licensing activities related to the decommissioning of San Onofre, Units 2 and 3. The U.S.

NRC is currently preparing a response to similar High Burnup Nuclear Fuel concerns. This document will provide factual information regarding High Burnup Fuel. Once that response is finalized, I will forward a copy of the response to you.
