GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION-SET 44 RAI 3.0.5-1 b Background. In its response to requests for additional information (RAls) 3.0.5-1 and 3.0.5-1 a, the applicant described its programmatic activities for the ongoing review of operating experience and stated that these activities are consistent with the guidance in License Renewal Interim Staff Guidance, LR-ISG-2011-05, "Ongoing Review of Operating Experience."

Issue. Four areas of the operating experience review activities are not fully consistent with LR-ISG-2011-05 because the applicant did not describe:

(a) codes used in the corrective action program that provide for the comprehensive identification and categorization of aging-specific issues for all plant systems, structures, and components within the scope of license renewal; (b) assessments of aging management program (AMP) implementation, performed regardless of whether the AMP acceptance criteria are met to determine if the effects of aging are being adequately managed; (c) training on age-related topics for personnel involved with the processing of operating experience; and (d) guidelines specific to aging for reporting plant-specific operating experience to the industry. .

Request. Provide further information with respect to the above issues to demonstrate consistency with LR-ISG-2011-05. Otherwise justify why the operating experience review activities provide for the adequate identification, evaluation, training, and reporting of operating experience involving age-related degradation and aging management.

Identify any necessary enhancements to existing activities based on the response to this request. Provide justification for any identified enhancements that will be implemented later than the date when the renewed operating license is scheduled to be issued, ifapproved.

Revise the summary description of the ongoing operating experience review activities in updated Final Safety Analysis Report Section A.0.1 accordingly.

RAI B.1.34-2c Background. In its November 29, 2012, response to RAI B.1.34-2b, the applicant stated that, prior to the period of extended operation, it will complete a search of the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) condition reporting system to identify all potential instances of cracking in ASME Code Class 1 small-bore piping for the period beginning at the start of licensed operation of the plant.

ENCLOSURE

- 2 Issue. Completion of this search and review of the results are needed to confirm that GGNS.

has not experienced cracking in its ASME Code Class 1 small-bore piping, thereby demonstrating applicability of Generic Aging Lessons Learned Report AMP XI.M35. This information is needed to support the staff's review of the license renewal application.

Request. Provide results of the completed search and review of records in the GGNS condition reporting system, as described in the response to RAI B.1.34-2b. Describe the methodology used to find potential instances of cracking in ASME Code Class 1 small-bore piping and discuss any relevant items found.
