SUMMARY

OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 1 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION September 28, 2016 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of Entergy Co., (Entergy or the applicant) held a telephone conference call on September 28, 2016, to discuss and clarify the applicants Containment Leak Rate Program (CLRP) and its consistency to Generic Aging Lessons Learned (GALL) Report AMP XI.S4.

DISCUSSION Entergy and staff discussed that based upon the NRC approval and inclusion into the current licensing basis, of the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) February 2016 license amendment on containment leak rate testing, exceptions became apparent with respect to the applicants CLRP and the GALL Report AMP XI.S4. In addition, inconsistencies were noted in GGNS program implementation and corresponding updated final safety analysis report (UFSAR) and CLRP descriptions in license renewal application (LRA) sections A.1.15 and B.1.15, respectively.

The applicant agreed to submit a supplement to their September 23, 2016 LRA, amendment to modify the GGNS CLRP implementation and corresponding UFSAR update and CLRP descriptions in LRA sections A.1.15 and B.1.15 respectively, in order to achieve alignment with the provisions in the February 2016 license amendment. In particular they agreed to identify and evaluate program element exceptions in this aging management program.
