Dear Mr. Levis:

By letter dated September 18, 2006,1 as supplemented by additional letters,2 PSEG Nuclear, LLC (PSEG or the licensee) submitted an amendment request for an extended power uprate (EPU) for the Hope Creek Generating Station (Hope Creek). The proposed amendment would increase the authorized maximum power level by, approximately 15 percent, from the current licensed thermal power of 3,339 megawatts thermal (MWt) to 3,840 MWt.

By letters dated February 28, 2008, and March 3, 2008 (ADAMS Accession Nos. ML080450616 and ML080580134, respectively), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) sent you a draft safety evaluation (SE) to review for proprietary markings, because it contained proprietary information pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of FederalRegulations, Section 2.390.

By letter dated March 18, 2008 (ADAMS Accession No. ML080870082), PSEG provided comments regarding the proprietary content in the draft SE.

Enclosures I and 2 transmitted herewith contain Official Use Only - Proprietary Information. When separated from Enclosures I and 2, this document is decontrolled.

Levis Enclosures 1 and 2 are the revised draft SE (proprietary version) that the NRC staff has prepared to support the proposed Hope Creek EPU license amendment based on the PSEG comments. Enclosures 1 and 2 of the revised draft SE are being withheld from public disclosure at this time, because it contains proprietary information pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.390. Enclosures 3 and 4 are thev draft SE (non-proprietary version) which will be made available to the public.

The NRC staff requests that PSEG provide comments regarding the-factual.accuracy of the information in the revised draft SE, as soon as possible, if necessary.
