We are aware that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will be holding a public meeting in Brattleboro, Vermont on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 to discuss the Draf Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (DSEIS) for license renewal of the Vermont Yankee plant. We have been informed that members of the Vermont Legislature are interested in being briefed by the NRC on its DSEIS. Given that the Legislature will be in session in Montpelier on January 31., 2007, the day you have chosen for your public hearing, we urge you to hold an additional public meeting in Montpelier so that interested.legislators, as well as members of the public unable to make it to Brattleboro. will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss NRC's findings.
Continued operation of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Reactor is an issue of great concern and interest to citizens throughout the state.
