As we understand the question, the NRC wants to know about future inspection plans for N10 and N2F. Here it is:

" Both nozzles are inspected in accordance with the schedule requirements of BWRVIP-75A and GL88-01; this inspection schedule will continue into the period of extended operation.

  • The PNPS IGSCC program, while described in the PNPS ISI Program, is documented in a separate document, PNP-RPT-05-008.

Accordingly, it is now classified as a Category E weld under VIP-75A and GL88-01 rules. It will be examined within the next 3 refueling outages (RFO) of the repair (in RFO1 7), then it will revert to the Category E VIP-75A frequency of 25% of all overlaid welds every 10 years. PNPS has only 2 weld overlays; either N10 or N9A will be examined every 10 years, including during the period of extended operation.

" The N2F nozzle safe end weld is classified as a Category D weld with Hydrogen Water Chemistry protection under BWRVIP-75A. This weld was last examined in RFO15 when a mid-wall, non-ID connected fabrication flaw was found. This flaw was determined to not be the result of IGSCC or any other service-related mechanism but was instead a welding anomaly (mid-wall lack of fusion) that occurred when the safe end was replaced in 1984. The EPRI PDI analyst performing an on-site 3 RD party review of RFO15 exam results agreed with this conclusion. This weld is scheduled to be re-examined by UT next outage in RFO16 ('07) to confirm the original conclusion that IGSCC was not present and that no growth has occurred. After the RFO1 6 exam, the weld will continue to be examined once every 10 years in accordance with the Category D requirements of VIP-75A, taking credit for Hydrogen Water Chemistry, including during the period of extended operation.
