1This proceeding involves Duke Energy Corporations (Dukes) February 2003 application to amend the operating license for its Catawba Nuclear Station to allow the use of four mixed oxide (MOX) lead test assemblies at the station. By Memorandum and Order dated March 5, 2003, Petitioner Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League (BREDL) was admitted as a party in the proceeding, after having filed a petition to intervene and request for hearing in response to a July 2003 Federal Register notice concerning this application. See LBP-04-04, 59 NRC ___ (2004); 68 Fed. Reg. 44,107 (July 25, 2003).

A closed hearing is scheduled in this proceeding1 for March 18, 2004, to hear oral argument on BREDLs security-related contentions. In addition, two telephone conferences are scheduled for March 16 and 25, 2004, to consider various scheduling and other issues. The following information is provided with regard to these proceedings:

1. For the March 16 telephone conference, all participants should call 301/231-5539 or 1-800/638-8081 a few minutes before 1:30 p.m. and give passcode 8723# to be connected in to the conference.

2Copies of this Order were sent this date by Internet e-mail or facsimile transmission, if available, to all participants or counsel for participants.

2. For the March 18 closed hearing, counsel for each party shall provide, no later than 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, the following information to the undersigned, Judge Baratta, and Mack Cutchin (email: JMC3@nrc.gov):

- a list of all persons who will be attending; and, for each:

- the organization with which the person is associated;

- his or her birth date; and

- whether each is a US citizen.

Upon arrival at the NRC offices at Two White Flint on March 18, all participants will be escorted to the hearing room.

3. For the March 25 telephone conference, all participants should call 301/231-5539 or 1-800/638-8081 a few minutes before 9:30 a.m. and give passcode 9691# to be connected in to the conference.
