Dear Mr. Lyman:
I would like to personally invite you and other members of your organization to attend a meeting between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Constellation Nuclear (Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station) in which the NRC staff will discuss with Constellation Nuclear our annual assessment of the safety performance of the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station.
The meeting will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at the Joint News Center (Oswego County Airport), County Route 176, Fulton, NY. At the meeting we will briefly discuss our Reactor Oversight Process and then discuss with Constellation Nuclear our assessment of their safety performance of Nine Mile Point and their response to our assessment. The meeting is open to the public for observation. Following the presentation, the NRC staff will be available to answer questions from you and members of the public regarding the safety performance of Nine Mile Point and the role of the NRC in ensuring safe plant operations.
The NRC recently completed its annual assessment of the safety performance of the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station in accordance with the NRC Reactor Oversight Process. Our assessment used the most recent performance indicator data and inspection findings from January 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003. We described our assessment results in a letter to the Constellation Nuclear on March 2, 2004. A copy of that letter is enclosed. Following the presentation, the NRC staff will be available to answer questions from you and members of the public regarding the safety performance of Nine Mile Point and the role of the NRC in ensuring safe plant operations.
The NRC recently completed its annual assessment of the safety performance of the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station in accordance with the NRC Reactor Oversight Process. Our assessment used the most recent performance indicator data and inspection findings from January 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003. We described our assessment results in a letter to the Constellation Nuclear on March 2, 2004. A copy of that letter is enclosed. The NRCs meeting notice, meeting agenda, and assessment letter can be found in the ADAMS meeting package (Accession Number ML040620013).
