In the Reference 1 letter,PSEG Nuclear LLC (PSEG) submitted a license amendment request for Salem Nuclear Generating Station (Salem), Units 1 and 2. PSEG provided additional information to support the NRC's review in References 2 through 4. The proposed amendment would revise Technical Specifications {TS) 3/4.3.1, Reactor Trip System, to support the replacement of the existing source range (SR) and intermediate range (IR) nuclear instrumentation.

10 CFR 50.90 Page 2 LR-N16-0057 The replacement of the SR and IR nuclear instrumentation is being performed in accordance with PSEG's design change process under 10 CFR 50.59. As described in Section 2.0 of of Reference 1, PSEG is only requesting NRC review and approval of the TS changes associated with the change to the SR and IR instrumentation channels. The TS changes consist of a revison to the allowable values for both the SR and IR channels, removal of the footnote associated with de-energizing the SR channel high voltage power supply above P-6, change to the P-6 setpoint description and the addition of TSTF-493 notes for the SR and IR channels.

PSEG has determined that the information provided in this submittal does not alter the conclusions reached in the 10 CFR 50.92 no significant hazards determination previously submitted. In addition, the information provided in this submittal does not affect the bases for concluding that neither an environmental impact statement nor an environmental assessment needs to be prepared in connection with the proposed amendment.
