Plant Su ort A violation was identified involving five protected area detection zones that failed intrusion testsSection 1. 1).

A violation was identified involving the removal of a security officer posted for a fai led intrusion detection zone before the zone was properly repaired (Section 1.2).

A violation was identified involving the failure of metal detectors to detect weapon test devices.

In addition, two incidents were identified where authorized employees gained access to the protected area without either an adequate search or identification (Section 1.3).

The assessment aids system provided excellent assessment of the perimeter detection zones with the exception of several zones degraded by the afternoon sun.

The inspectors expressed a concern about the configuration of the central alarm. station (Section 1.4).

An inspection fol lowup item was identified involving positive control of vital area keys (Section 1.5).

The vital area barriers and detection systems were in place and would be effective in providing delay and detection during a penetration attempt

,

(Section 1.6).

The licensee had an efficient program to provide control of vehicles inside the protected area.

The inspector checked 10 licensee designated vehicles and 1 escorted vehicle and the vehicles were correctly secured (Section 1.7).

The licensee had a very efficient program for searching packages and materials.

The x-ray equipment used to search hand-carried packages were tested and were very effective.

Operators appeared to be well-trained (Section 1.8).

An unresolved item in the area of access authori zation was identified, pending licensee action (Section 1.9).
